PROOF is a research program investigating effective policy interventions to reduce household food insecurity in Canada. It is led by Dr. Valerie Tarasuk at the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Temerty Faculty of Medicine.

We are hiring a part-time Research Analyst to support research on the economic predictors of food insecurity, using Statistics Canada population survey data. The research will be completed at the Research Data Centre (RDC) at the downtown campus of the University of Toronto.

The Research Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Performing descriptive and regression analyses of population-based survey data
  • Preparing data disclosure documents
  • Summarizing data analysis results for reporting, tables, and graphs

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or working towards master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics, or related field
  • Experience working at the RDC environment
  • Experience using SAS and R for statistical analyses of large datasets (e.g., Canadian Community Health Survey, Labour Force Survey, or Canada Income Survey)
  • Familiarity with food insecurity, social determinants of health, or social policy research

Expected Start Date: As soon as possible.
Term: This position is for a 3-month contract with the possibility of an extension.
Hours of work: Approximately 6-12 hours per week but can vary during the project.
Hourly rate: $ 36.31 per hour
